What is a sloth experience?

You will meet one of our keepers who will walk you through our tropical house until you get to our indoor sloth enclosure, where they will tell you a little more about what is going to happen and go through some health and safety about the experience.

You will then enter the enclosure with our keeper to meet Sid, our sloth up close and personal.

Once you go in to the enclosure, the keeper will hand you a bowl of food for this gentle animal.  You will then first feed him some bite sized chunks on a feeding stick.  Once he settles in you will be able to gently stroke him on his body.

The time in the enclosure with the sloth will be around 15 minutes – after this he usually gets bored of new people, and as soon as he is finished, or he no longer wants to do the encounter it is time to say good bye to your new furry friend – our animals never have to do anything they don’t wish to and we can never guarantee a set amount or level of contact.

Are there any sloth experience restrictions?

Sloths are a species who love to climb.  As such the enclosure needs to be designed in a way which facilitates this, and as a result the enclosure does have a slightly uneven substrate making it unsuitable for wheelchair access and various branches and climbing equipment which mean that getting around the enclosure requires you to be steady on your feet.

The minimum age for this experience is 6 years.

What’s included in the sloth experience price?

When purchasing an experience ticket this fee will cover that one person doing the experience to participate.  You will be met by one of our keepers .  Including the experience and health & safety briefing, please expect to be at the park for 30 minutes, however the experience also includes entry to the park for you and one accompanying person as a spectator to ensure that they can get some nice photos of you during the experience.  If you wish to have any further spectators these can be purchased with normal day entry tickets at the same time slot as you.  Please note that the ability to walk around the park is only available for tickets booked for the 12th October or later which is when the park will open to the public.  Until then participants and spectators will not be free to wander around the park and to reflect this any additional spectators until the 12th October will be charged at £5.

This experience can be carried out twice per day with one session at 11:00 and a second being available at 15:00.

How much does the sloth experience cost?

The sloth experience costs £60 per person including 1 free spectator.

We can however cater for 2 people to do the experience at a time in which case the price drops to £50 per person, but this time without any free spectators.  Please note that in order to enter the park unattended participants need to be a minimum age of 16 years.  If the participants is under 16 they must use their one free spectator ticket for someone aged over 16, and if the experience is for 2 people aged under 16, the accompanying adult(s) must purchase a spectator ticket (as these are not included with the discounted multi-buy).
